November 19, 2021: The Children’s Bureau at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families (ACF) published the FY 2020 Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS). Since these reports in conjunction with the Covid pandemic, we are sure the numbers have increased dramatically. Not just the surmounting data, but the conditions of our young continue to highlight our need as a community to urgently create a foundation that will guide each family with a child in need of service, to a secure, sustainable, and favorable future.

You may think sheltering a child is a simple thing to do. Well to be honest, it is one of the most challenging things to do because , "It truly does take a village to raise a child, and the expenses are surmountable"! In saying, we ask that you take a look at some of the ways that you can help assist our efforts with your support:

3. clothing assistance
4. food assistance
5. recreation and engagement assistance
6. staffing, payroll, volunteer services
7. shelter maintenance and upkeep
8. building furnishings
9. hygiene care/products
10. transportation assistance, (medical, business, and recreational)
11. social engagement activities
On this short list are 11 essentials which can be used immediately to change the negative mental health perception, housing insecurity, and current reality of a youth that may have, or experience going through an anticipated, situational, or chronic family emergency! Please select 1 (one) or more support initiatives and include it in your email when you reach out to support A Safe House endeavor.
